How do you respond to a rental property listing?

You probably already know most of this, but it's a good idea to write it down. Especially if you're searching with someone else! You can consider the following things:

• Your preferred location: for example, determine which neighbourhoods you'd like to live in;
• Your budget: Keep in mind that the average income requirement is three times the basic rent, so calculate the maximum rent you can afford with your (combined) income;
• The size of the property: How big does the home need to be at a minimum;
• The number of rooms: for example, how many bedrooms you'd like;
• Extra preferences: such as a balcony, an extra study, the energy label, and so on.

Do you have your preferences listed? Great, now it's time to set up your search! Here's how:

1. Navigate to the location where you want to live using the search bar;
2. Enable the filters on the left and click 'Show results';
3. Then, in the top right, click the green button 'Save search';
4. Choose 'immediately' at 'How often would you like to receive updates?', so you never miss a property!

You can create multiple searches and adjust or delete them by clicking 'My searches' in your profile.

Now that you have set up your search, it's time to start responding. A few more tips:

• As soon as you receive a property alert, respond as quickly as you can;
• Make sure your Rental Profile is complete;
• Use 'one-click apply', you will find this button in the message you receive from Huurwoningen;
• Keep an eye on your inbox & phone to see if you receive a message from the estate agent;
• Call or email the estate agent afterwards;
• Prepare yourself for the viewing. Read more about how to do that here!

Extra tip: Is it not working out to secure a viewing? Consider broadening your search criteria. This will increase your chances!
