Every month, about 1.7 million home seekers search for a new home on Huurwoningen. It’s no surprise, as our website offers not only a vast number of listings but also the most up-to-date rental properties in the Netherlands. Additionally, we feature a unique selection from private landlords. But how do all these properties get onto Huurwoningen? Allow us to explain!
We are in daily contact with estate agents to ensure their rental properties are shown on our website. More than 1,600 agents currently list their rental properties on Huurwoningen. In addition, we collect rental listings from estate agents across the Netherlands, so home seekers can access a view of the rental market that is as complete and current as possible.
All properties are checked before they go live. We also verify the availability of each property.
In short, we work hard every day to bring together rental listings from landlords and agents into one clear and as complete as possible overview for home seekers.
Keeping our selection up-to-date
Agents use a system to register properties. Once an agent does this, the property is automatically uploaded to Huurwoningen, ensuring that the latest listings are immediately available on our website, so you don't need to look elsewhere. When a property is rented out and the agent de-lists it, the advertisement is also removed from Huurwoningen.
Agents maintain the availability of listings in their system. We automatically check this system three times a day. Unfortunately, sometimes agents do not immediately de-list a property once it’s rented, meaning it can still appear online. We understand this is inconvenient and, as the only housing platform in the Netherlands, we conduct additional checks to ensure availability. You can read more about our availability checks here.
Through private landlords
Besides agents, many private landlords also rent out properties. Private landlords can also list their properties on Huurwoningen. This offers a significant advantage: many of these properties can’t be found elsewhere, making the listings on Huurwoningen quite unique. The landlord does not receive responses from other platforms, increasing your chances of finding a new home!
Strict quality checks
Before we post an advertisement from a private landlord online, we conduct a thorough check. We verify that the advertisement meets our standards and contact the landlord to ensure they are reliable and the property is genuinely available.
After the quality check, we publish the property listing online, making it visible to home seekers!
